Miyagi Shiryō Net has started a 'Historical Regeneration Publishing Project.' This project will involve using the historical documents and materials that we have salvaged from areas suffering earthquake and tsunami damage to write a series of short booklets recounting some aspect of the history of these areas.

At present, we have 16 writers who have offered to participate in this project.

The first booklet in this series is now available. The booklet, written by Inoue Takumi,  is a history of the port of Arahama, which suffered a direct hit from the tsunami of 3.11. Arahama now is just a small sleepy fishing port, but in the Edo Period (1600 to 1868) it was a major port at the mouth of the Abukuma River, which served as link between the hinterland of southern Sendai Domain and the northern part of modern Fukushima Prefecture to the maritime trade routes serving the major markets of Edo and beyond.
